Building With Legos
Building with Legos: Motivation with Monica Video Transcript
You mean to tell me, you are asking you to do more thing! With my crazy schedule, my own work, my kids’ schedule? I can’t take on one more thing!
The good news is I’m not asking you to.
I’m just asking s to be intentional.
We do it subconsciously anyway, as we transport/support our kids in sports, activities, wanting them to be included, and helping them to be OK when they are not.
If we deem it safe after COVID, hopefully, they may start to interact again with other kids. My question for us adults is, can we be just a little more intentional in kindness, patience, and support for those other kids who need it?
Each one … reach one! Building with Legos! No matter what the Lego blocks inspire us to build, we are building something important and beautiful by adding support for just one additional parent or kid. We were going anyway!
Like, Ms. Cammie who picked us up for church. For me, that evolutionary path stuck with me, and open doors that never completely closed. Of course, I screwed up and did so much wrong, but an important foundation had been laid. Or like Ms. Ruthie Lee picking me up for school since she was taking her own son to the same school. That meant I didn’t have to walk every day. These folk in my neighborhood .. were intentional. How can we be as intentional? As parents? Godparents? Grandparents?
A personal example: I was blessed to be able to drive 20 extra miles to pick up some kids whom we knew well. Oh, I even got criticized, but those kids needed that positive exposure since they were living with a spectacular grandmother who already gave 200%.
I take no credit, because I had learned from some of the best.
Intentional in support as we raise the village. Take the Legos we have and building something with them.
Not perfect, but practicing.
